Client Manager – SME Portfolio
Fully Remote | Northern Ireland & Ireland | £60,000–£75,000 + 10% Bonus + Future Equity Opportunity

Working predominantly from home, you’ll manage your own portfolio of SME clients across Northern Ireland and Ireland, visiting clients when required while enjoying the flexibility and independence that comes with a fully remote role.
The Opportunity
This is a varied and rewarding position where no two days are the same. You’ll become the trusted adviser to a diverse portfolio of businesses, supporting them across bookkeeping, payroll, accounts preparation, taxation and commercial business advice.
Rather than working behind the scenes, you’ll play a key role in helping business owners make informed financial decisions, improve performance and achieve long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
Client Portfolio Management
• Manage a portfolio of SME clients across multiple sectors
• Act as the main client contact and build strong, long-term relationships
• Develop a strong understanding of client businesses and identify opportunities to add value
• Manage deadlines and ensure all compliance obligations are met
Bookkeeping & Management Accounting
• Complete and review bookkeeping using cloud-based accounting software
• Prepare and review VAT returns in line with current legislation
• Reconcile bank, control, and balance sheet accounts
• Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts where required
• Maintain accurate financial records and resolve bookkeeping queries
• Process and manage PAYE payroll, including RTI submissions
Accounts Preparation
• Prepare year-end accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards
• Liaise with clients to obtain required information and support timely reporting
Tax Compliance & Advisory
• Prepare corporation tax computations and returns
• Prepare personal tax returns for directors and business owners
• Prepare Capital Gains Tax computations and returns
• Provide advice on routine tax matters and identify planning opportunities
• Keep up to date with tax legislation and communicate impacts to clients
Business Advisory
• Provide practical financial and commercial advice to clients
• Support clients with budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management
• Assist with company formations, restructures, and financing requirements
• Identify and implement improvements to clients’ financial systems and processes
Practice Development
• Promote cloud accounting and digital solutions
• Identify opportunities to expand services to new clients and within the client base
• Contribute to continuous improvement within the practice
Skills & Experience
Essential
• ACA or ACCA qualified
• Previous experience in an accountancy practice at Manager level or above
• Experience managing a portfolio of SME clients
• Strong bookkeeping and accounts preparation experience
• Strong knowledge of corporation tax, income tax, PAYE, and VAT
• Experience with cloud accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage)
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Experience delivering business advisory services

What’s on Offer?
• Salary of £60,000–£75,000, depending on experience.
• 10% annual performance bonus.
• Fully remote working, with occasional client visits across Northern Ireland and Ireland.
